Senior Design Manager (Technical Interior Architect / Technologist)

Salary: Up to £55,000

A leading design practice is looking for a technically focused Interior Architect or Architectural Technologist to step into a Senior Design Manager role. This position is weighted towards technical delivery, making it ideal for someone who thrives on detail, coordination, and turning concept into buildable reality.


About the role

You'll take responsibility for delivering complex retail, F&B, and hospitality projects. Acting as a bridge between design intent and site delivery, you'll lead drawing production, coordinate consultants, and make sure projects meet regulatory, technical, and commercial requirements.


What you'll do

  • Produce and manage detailed drawing packages using AutoCAD and SketchUp (essential)
  • Translate feasibility and concept designs into code-compliant, buildable solutions
  • Lead on building regulations and building control submissions
  • Coordinate with consultants (structural, M&E, contractors, and suppliers)
  • Conduct site surveys and oversee on-site delivery phases
  • Make sure all outputs meet quality, budget, and programme requirements
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues on technical best practice


What you'll bring

  • Background as an Interior Architect or Technologist with a focus on delivery
  • Strong expertise in AutoCAD and SketchUp
  • 5+ years' experience in retail, F&B, or hospitality interiors
  • Excellent knowledge of building regulations, compliance, and site delivery
  • Confidence managing technical workflows at a senior level
  • Clear communication, attention to detail, and commercial awareness
