Salary: £50,000 to £75,000, depending on experience

About the Consultancy

A growing, client-side project management and cost consultancy working across retail, hospitality, and leisure. They design and deliver spaces for founders, landlords, developers, and brands, with a client list in the F&B and hospitality world that you'll recognise from your weekend plans.

They sit on the client's side of the table. They manage cost, risk, and suppliers so their clients can focus on opening the doors. Clients describe them as tough with suppliers, flexible with clients, and calm when things get busy on site.

The founders are still closely involved in the work, rather than sitting behind layers of management. The team has grown quickly, they've recently moved into new offices in Central London, and with luxury hotels next on the horizon, the business is on the up.

About the Role

The consultancy is growing its cost function and hiring two Quantity Surveyors, one for each of its delivery teams.

You'll start out working closely with the Director, getting to grips with the consultancy's cost systems and ways of working. From there, you'll sit within your own team and look after the QS side of every project. That frees the Project Managers to focus on delivery, and it gives you real ownership of the numbers.

Your Days Will Look Something Like This

Cost planning and reporting

• Providing detailed estimates and forecasts for all new projects
• Setting up and running cost and cash tracking across live projects, with accurate weekly reporting
• Tracking changes to design and construction work, and adjusting budgets accordingly
• Producing final accounts and reconciled costings
• Communicating costs clearly and consistently to clients and internal teams

Tenders and contracts

• Creating pricing templates for FF&E, along with M&E tender documents
• Preparing tender documents, contracts, budgets, and bills of quantities
• Running tender exercises and producing accurate, detailed summary reports
• Procuring contractors and subcontractors, and helping to draft, review, and negotiate contracts
• Developing framework agreements and schedules of rates for multi-site clients

Value and compliance

• Supporting feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, and cost risk
• Finding value engineering opportunities without compromising the quality of the build
• Making sure contractors and suppliers deliver value for money and comply fully with H&S legislation
• Visiting sites to check costings of materials and monitor progress

Shaping the function

• Helping develop internal cost control systems that are efficient, simple, and transparent
• Working alongside the Project Managers to keep projects moving

You Might Be Our Perfect Match If

• You have QS experience on contractor or client-side contracts within retail, leisure, or hospitality
• You have a proven track record on high-end retail interior fit-outs across the UK, up to £5m
• You have very good Excel skills, and you're comfortable building spreadsheets and working with formulas
• You're a clear communicator who can manage every key stakeholder
• You're super organised, with a strong eye for detail
• You have a solid understanding of construction safety requirements and H&S legislation
• You build trust easily and form strong client relationships
• You've got a can-do attitude and want to help shape where the business goes next
• You hold a clean UK driving licence
